What's your background?
I'm Rozella Simkin, an MBACP registered counsellor based in Scunthorpe. I founded Your Journey, Don't Stop Believing, in 2022 after working as a counsellor at CASY Children's Services, supporting young people through trauma, and training as a student counsellor at Supporting Minds, where I trained in person-centred therapy and Rewind Therapy, a technique specifically used for processing trauma. I hold a Diploma in Mental Health Counselling and have studied counselling psychology. I'm also certified in Rewind Therapy through IARTT.
What kind of therapist are you? Directive, or more of a listener?
My approach is person-centred, which means the sessions follow what's actually useful for you rather than a fixed script I run everyone through. I'll ask questions, offer observations, and where it's relevant bring in specific techniques like Rewind Therapy, but the direction of the work is shaped by what you need, not a set programme.
Who do you typically work with?
Teenagers and adults dealing with anxiety, trauma, depression, grief, low self-esteem, and recovery from domestic abuse. Some clients come with a clear issue in mind, others come because something feels wrong and they're not sure what yet. Both are fine starting points.
Why did you start this practice?
After working within organisational settings, I wanted to build a space where people could come without the constraints of a waiting list assigning them a set number of sessions, or a service structured around throughput rather than the individual. Don't Stop Believing was built to be paced around the client, not the system.
Are you actually qualified and insured, or is this informal?
I'm MBACP registered, which means I'm bound by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy's ethical framework, and I hold professional indemnity insurance. That's worth checking with any therapist, not just here. Registration and insurance are a reasonable minimum bar before trusting someone with this kind of work.
Do you offer in-person or online sessions?
Both. In-person sessions are held in Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire. Online sessions are available by phone or video across the UK.
If this sounds like someone you'd be comfortable talking to, the natural next step is a low-key conversation, not a commitment.
